Routine prescriptions
We dispense prescriptions to both NHS and private patients. Our computer system not only produces labels for medicines being dispensed, but also keeps a record of such items. It can also record details of any advice given to patients about their healthcare and lifestyle. The pharmacist can give you information about your medication and how to use it safely.
Smoking Cessation Service
In conjunction with Croydon Primary Care Trust, we offer a one-to-one smoking cessation programme designed to help you STOP! You must agree to commit yourself to attend between weekly at the pharmacy over a four week period.
Monitored Dosage Systems
If either yourself or someone you care for has problems remembering how or when to take prescribed medication, we may be able to help with a compliance device. This is usually a cassette or card filled with one week's supply of medicine, split into different times of the day for each day of the week. Please note, however, that such a device might not be suitable for all patients and potential candidates will need to be assessed before such an aid can be offered. You should also mention this to your G.P. Please ask your pharmacist for details.
Emergency Hormonal Contraception (EHC)
This is commonly known as the 'morning after pill'. It is effective for up to 72 hours after unprotected intercourse though we would stress that it is best used as soon as possible. We can provide EHC at the pharmacy during opening hours; no appointment is necessary.
Unwanted Medications
We are happy for you to return all your unwanted and unused medications to us for safe disposal.
Over The Counter Service
We stock a large range of products suitable for self-treatment of most common ailments as well as most types of vitamin and mineral products.
Photographic Service
We offer a comprehensive photo processing service for both conventional film (black and white, colour or slides) and digital. Free replacement film is available. We can also provide a range of associated services such as reprints, enlargements and media transfer (eg loading photos onto CDs). Unfortunately, this is not a same-day service as we do not do on-site processing. Most services can, however, be completed and ready for collection within two days. We also take instant passport photos.
Veterinary Medicines
New legislation allows pharmacists to recommend, prescribe and sell veterinary medicines. You are now entitled to ask your vet for a prescription to be dispensed by your pharmacist, in much the same way a family doctor gives you a prescription. You can then take advantage of the veterinary prescription dispensing service at this pharmacy
Cholesterol Testing Service
High blood cholesterol has been associated with hardening of the arteries, heart disease and a raised risk of death from heart attacks and strokes. Cholesterol testing is considered a routine part of preventive health care. At SHIRLEY Pharmacy we can test your blood cholesterol levels and refer you to your GP if necessary. We can advise you on simple changes to your life-style that will reduce your cholesterol levels and the risks associated with raised levels.
Diabetes Testing Service
There are thousands of people with undiagnosed Type 2 diabetes in the UK. At SHIRLEY Pharmacy we offer a diabetes test to help identify your risk of developing the condition. We can advise you on ways of reducing your chances of developing diabetes later in life and offer guidance on leading a healthy lifestyle.
Medication Usage Review
If you take regular medication and are worried about possible side-effects, drug interactions or if you just need to know whether you are taking your pills correctly, then ask our pharmacist for a personalised medicines usage review. The review will be conducted in our private consultation room and will be completely confidential.
Health Screening and Profiles

existing medical condition. You may discuss your concerns with Clinicheck’s
physicians at no charge and then come to Shirley Pharmacy for a blood sample
without wasting time to travel or to wait for an appointment.

Blood samples are taken in our consultation room and all your concerns are addressed
in strict confidentiality. Result reports are posted directly to your home address
(and not to your pharmacy) and if there are findings to discuss our physicians

On Line Private Prescriptions - Free Medical Consultation
Our physicians are able to issue a private prescription, if this is required.
A 1 to 1 phone consultation with a new or a registered patient is necessary.
All your private prescription requirements can be discussed with our GMC-registered
physicians. We strictly adhere to GMC regulations for “Good Practice for
Prescribing Medicines (2008), with particular emphasis on “remote prescribing
via telephone, email, fax, video link or website, clauses 39-43”. For more

To request a private prescription you need to:
1. click here and one of our physicians will call you beck within
15 minutes to discuss your requirement. If calling from abroad, please be aware,
we only call back landline numbers.
2. At the end of the conversation you will be told if your prescription has been
approved and also the total cost of the transaction, including shipping fees.
Shirley Pharmacy can ship prescribed medications world wide. You will be asked
to pay via a debit or credit card.
3. We will give you an authorisation code and you need to go back to the approved
private prescription section and fill in your details.
Terms & Conditions
We may approve repeated prescriptions when treatment duration can take more than
4 weeks.
We do not ship medications to the same postal address more than once every calendar
month. We also do not ship medications to PO
Boxes or to business addresses.
Occasionally, we may ask you to email or fax us back a script or other medical
certificates you have had at the past from your doctor, to consider your request
further. If asked, you will need to fax these documents to 0870 2853216 (+448702853216
from outside the UK).
We cannot prescribe controlled medications following an online or
phone consultation.
A face to face consultation with our physicians is required for controlled medications
to be prescribed (subject to a diagnosis justifying such a medication). Controlled
medications cannot be shipped in the UK or abroad.
Fees: Medical consultation is offered at no charge. You will be charged for
your medications and shipping charges only.
